How an enquiry is handled

Newcastle Driveway Concreters is a referral service for residential driveway work in Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. Each enquiry goes to one independent local concreter, who looks at the site, puts a price in writing and does the work under their own licence and insurance.

When you send the form or ring the number on this site, the enquiry goes to that concreter and to this site's own inbox. The concreter contacts you, measures the job on the block, and quotes it in writing. The quote, the contract, the licence, the insurance and any warranty on the work are theirs and yours. This site is not a party to the work and does not take a margin on it.

Why publish rates at all

Because a driveway is the most expensive piece of concrete most households buy, and most sites will not tell you a number until they have your phone number. The rates here are guide rates per square metre, supplied and laid, for Newcastle and Lake Macquarie. They are printed once, in the site's service files, and every page reads from the same source, so the cost guide, the calculator and the suburb pages never disagree. The rates on this site are published so you can budget before anyone visits. Your price is the figure written on the quote once the site has been measured.

How the facts are checked

The council material on this site, the Section 138 process, the crossing widths and thicknesses, the finishes each council accepts and the turnaround Lake Macquarie publishes, was read from the councils' own pages, forms and standard drawings, and the date it was last checked is printed on the pages that carry it. Where a council does not publish something, such as City of Newcastle's fee and processing time, this site says so rather than guessing. Suburb pages draw on the councils' development control plans, the state mine subsidence district maps, the 2021 Census and local history collections, and say "part of" or "most of" where that is all the map supports.

What this site does not do: invent a founding date, a crew, a count of jobs, reviews or ratings. There are none on the site because there are none to show yet. When the concreter attached to this site has real photographs and real reviews, they will appear with their source.

What is in scope

Concrete driveways for homes, in plain, coloured and exposed aggregate finishes; removal and replacement; and the paths, shed and garage slabs, patios and hardstands that go in beside a driveway. Slabs for dwellings, pool shells and concreting for businesses are not referred through this site.
